Raja's remand extended till Feb 10

The Central Bureau of Investigation had sought four-day extension of Raja's remands he was produced in the court at the end of his five-day custody.

The agency said it wanted to confront Raja with some department officials so it needed more time. However, the agency said it did not want further custody of former telecom secretary Siddartha Behura and Raja's former personal secretary R.K. Chandolia.

Raja and his aides had been arrested for their alleged role in granting 2G spectrum and licences in violation of the guidelines.

Ahead of submitting its report to SC in the 2G scam, the CBI questioned former telecom commission member K. Sridhar in connection with the allocation of spectrum in 2007-08.

Though officials were tight-lipped about the line of questioning, he was asked about certain policy decisions that were taken during his tenure, sources said.

The Supreme Court has asked the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to submit status reports on their investigations into the 2G spectrum case by February 10 when the case would come up for further hearing.
