Theatre suspends screening of Vijayakant starrer following DMK protests

Screening of “Virudhagiri”, a film starring actor—politician Vijayakant, has been suspended at a cinema hall in Uthamapalayam town in the district following following objections from DMK cadre.
About 100 DMK party workers picketed the cinema hall today, demanding that screening of the film starring DMDK leader Vijayakant be stopped, police said. The party workers also gave a complaint to the District Collector alleging that a large number of posters were appearing in the area ahead of the April 13 Tamil Nadu assembly polls.
The screening of the film was later stopped, being replaced with an English film, which led to tension between DMDK and DMK party workers, police said.
