PMK's alliance with DMK only an electoral adjustment: Ramadoss

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK)'s alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is only an electoral adjustment, not based on matters of policy, the PMK founder S. Ramadoss said on Monday.
Replying to a question on the formulation of a common minimum programme (CMP), an issue raised by him after the 2006 Assembly elections, Dr. Ramadoss told a press conference here that the concept of CMP would be relevant only in respect of a coalition government. "But, what we have entered into is only a seat adjustment, not an agreement based on matters of policy. So, the CMP cannot be prepared and it is not needed too."
He was addressing the press conference after unveiling his party's election manifesto for the Assembly polls.
To another question on freebies, the PMK founder said the governments, both at the Centre and in States, had been providing enormous tax concessions and tax holidays to the corporate sector. There was nothing wrong in "robbing the rich and paying the poor."
Asked for his reaction to the DMK's electoral assurance of creating a satellite city for Chennai, Dr. Ramadoss, who vociferously opposed the DMK government's satellite city project about four years ago, replied that if the city could be established without affecting people, he had no objection to it.
WikiLeaks
When drawn to his attention of a WikiLeaks disclosure that India played a key role in warding off international pressure on Sri Lanka to halt military operations and hold talks with the LTTE in the dramatic final days and weeks of the war in 2009, the PMK leader termed it as a "worn out matter."
